To ensure your design looks crisp and doesn't get cropped, use this safe sizing formula:

Standard Cover	1500 × 600 px	Best all-round size
High-Res Devices	3000 × 1200 px	For Retina/4K displays
Mobile Safe Zone	Center 1000 × 400 px	Keep key elements here
Gallery View	Square (1:1) or 4:3	Set “Fit image” in database view

How to Design a Custom Notion Cover using Canva?

Here’s how to make your custom cover using Canva—for free:

1: Set Up the Right Canvas

Go to canva.com
Click “Create a design”
Choose “Custom Size” and enter 1500 × 600 px

2: Choose a Background

Solid Color – Clean and minimal
Gradient – Adds depth
Photo – Use high-quality images from Unsplash (search inside Canva)
Abstract shapes or textures

3: Add Your Elements

Add text (your name, page title, quote)
Insert icons, emojis, or illustrations
Use frames or overlays for a layered look

Keep important content centered within 1000 × 400 px.

4: Download Your Cover

Click Share > Download
Format: JPG or PNG
Recommended: High Quality download setting

5: Upload to Notion

Open your Notion page
Click “Add Cover”
Click “Change Cover” → Upload
Select your Canva design
Drag to reposition, then Save position

Your custom cover is now live
